CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Loom Weaving
Weaving is an act of creation, a way to develop thought and translate it into functional and aesthetically harmonious textile pieces.
The Technical Labor Program in Loom Weaving fosters a unique relationship with textile fibers and various types of looms, guiding students toward building a meaningful life project through the creation of high-quality pieces that manifests the artisans’ spirit and craftsmanship.
Our certificate programs
The programs are designed to provide technical specialized training across two semesters: basic semester and specialization semester.
The basic semester serves as a prerequisite for any specialization within the loom weaving program.
During the first semester, students acquire foundational knowledge of the craft, while the second semester focuses on advanced techniques, allowing for the improvement of skills and expertise.
Each semester consists of 432 hours, totaling 864 hours per program and integrates a combination of technical and theoretical coursework, taught by highly qualified instructors.
The training is conducted in person, ensuring hands-on learning experience and feedback closely connected to the realities of the trade.
Students may focus on one of the following areas of specialization: Horizontal lever table loom, Vertical loom, Treadle horizontal floor loom.

Specialization semesters
The specialization semesters are practical training programs designed to deepen knowledge and skills in specific areas, incorporating a focus on micro-processes, quality parameters, and key references to foster strong quality awareness in each artisanal Technique.
Loom weaving program specializations
After finishing the basic cycle, students continue the program by selecting one of the following areas of specialization.
Horizontal lever loom
Connect in a unique way with Horizontal Lever Looms and the most remarkable textile fibers in Weaving. Learn to create flat fabrics with exceptional complexity and detail, suitable for fashion and decoration.
The technical quality offered by this program ensures precise preparation and operation of lever looms, allowing the production of textiles that meet the highest quality standards in the artisanal textile sector.
-
This program provides comprehensive training in the use of manual looms, ideal for weaving textiles from a wide variety of fibers.
Throughout the program, students develop fundamental planning skills, learn to use different materials, developing the techniques necessary to work with four-frame and eight-frame looms. This approach enables exploration of various levels of complexity, ranging from rigid and structured weaves to fluid textiles with innovative color effects.
-
The program also focuses on essential technical skills for textile production, strengthening competencies in warping, loom setup, and weaving. Additionally, it includes in-depth training in the graphical representation of weave patterns, loom preparation, and operation.
Finally, it highlights the characteristics of textile fibers and the selection of the most suitable materials for each piece, ensuring the creation of high-quality and sustainable textiles.
The Horizontal Lever Loom Program includes the following subjects:
History of weaving and reference studies
Weave structures
Simple weaves
Complex weaves
Creation of textile structures
Textile product weaving
Vertical loom
The vertical loom, also known as the high-warp loom, is one of the oldest types of loom in the weaving trade that allows the creation of both functional and artistic pieces. Learn this ancient art and produce high-quality textiles while preserving traditional techniques from millenary cultures across the world.
-
Throughout the program, students explore various techniques and their variations, learning to craft both figurative and abstract textile pieces.
Additionally, the curriculum emphasizes the proper use of natural materials and a meticulous selection of colors, ensuring precise shades that add realism and depth to each woven piece.
-
Technical training includes the study and analysis of historical references, the creation of design templates and pattern boards, and an understanding of the fundamental principles behind tapestry and knotting techniques.
These skills are essential for mastering various weaving methods such as kilim, Navajo and Gobelin. This program enables students to create durable tapestries, cushions, shawls, and rugs that meet the highest quality standards.
The Vertical Loom Program includes the following subjects:
History of weaving and reference studies
Expression techniques
Fundamentals of the vertical loom
Kilim
Gobelin
3D tapestry
Contemporary tapestry
Treadle horizontal loom
Horizontal looms are machines that create flat fabrics through body movement, offering endless weaving possibilities.
Learn to master the use of this remarkable machine and discover your own weaving pattern in each piece, crafting textiles of the highest quality and translating your vision into large-format works of art.
-
This program explores the history of weaving, the use of various textile fibers, and the operation of essential tools and equipment for weaving on horizontal treadle looms.
Includes technical principles for warping, weaving, and textile finishing, with a focus on weave structures, to develop both simple and complex fabric designs on four-shaft, six-shaft, and eight-shaft looms.
Additionally, students are introduced to the "mechanized loom" for Jacquard-style textile production, expanding creative and technical possibilities.
-
The program encourages the creation of textile structures adapted to different applications, covering three production lines: finished products, textile materials, and artistic pieces.
